"Well, at least, we beat Utah."

GAME RECAP At first glance, Saturday’s game between the Sacramento Kings and the New Jersey Nets was a match up between two equally struggling teams. The Nets carried an 18 - 35 (.340) record into Power Balance Pavilion, while the Kings, last in the Pacific Division, were 18 - 33 (.353). But, the Kings play better at home so, Advantage: Kings? Not necessarily. The New Jersey Nets are one of only two teams to play better on the road than at home, and the only team to play substantially better. So it was that the Nets left town with a 111 - 91 win, and remained undefeated on their current swing west. The home team started well. Playing crisply, the Kings led throughout the first quarter.

Losing Streak Over!

►►► GAME COVERAGE ►►► FOLLOWED BY GAME NOTES ►►► FOLLOWED BY COMMENTARY   ♦ THE GAME The ordeal is over. The Kings finally won a game. Avenging their lone loss in the 3-game road trip that opened their season, the Kings beat the New Jersey Nets at Arco Friday night, 86 - 81. The Kings had played New Jersey in the second game of the season. In that game, they had fallen behind by 18 points, but surged in the 3rd quarter and actually held an 8 point lead with less than 4 minutes to play. Sadly, New Jersey outscored the Kings 17 - 3 in the final 3:41, and won going away. Having started the season by taking 2 out of 3 road games, the Kings had returned to Sacramento feeling confiden

Derrick Favors and DeMarcus Cousins workout for Kings

There are only three ways for the Sacramento Kings to improve: free agency, trade or draft. On June 24, the Kings will have the opportunity to add some talent through the draft. Last year, the Kings selected Tyreke Evans with their first pick, which proved to be a good one. The Kings' later picks were productive early on, but the obvious improvement came with their lottery pick. Last year, the team was given the fourth pick in the first round. This year, it will be selecting from one spot later. On Saturday, the Kings brought in Derrick Favors and DeMarcus Cousins for their first workouts of the summer. The two are regarded as the best big men in this year’s draft. Favors is projected t

Fool's Gold

The Kings currently have a 25-54 record and had won their first game since March 21 last night at Arco. At first you would think this is a negative – which for the present it is, and nobody likes for their team to lose – but if you are looking at the future, this should be seen as a positive. Last month was a great time for Kings fans and basketball fans alike. We were able to watch the NCAA tournament. If you watched enough games, you would have been able to see that there are two great prospects coming out. The consensus is that John Wall of Kentucky and Evan Turner of Ohio State are two difference makers who will be leaving college and entering the 2010 draft. If you are unaware of

Evans to miss Celtics and Cavs games

Sacramento Kings rookie guard Tyreke Evans will miss the next two games after complaining of a headache during today's practice in Boston. Evans sustained a concussion last Friday at home when Milwaukee Bucks forward Ersan Ilyasova hit him in the head with an elbow late in the fourth quarter. Evans has missed three games so far and will miss tomorrow's game against the Boston Celtics and Sunday against the Cleveland Cavaliers.  Swingman Francisco García has started in Evans place for the past three games. The Kings are 1-2 since Evans was injured, including a loss to the New Jersey Nets, the team with an NBA-worst 8-63 record.

Kings fall to struggling Nets

The New Jersey Nets (8-63) looked at this game against the Sacramento Kings (24-48) as an opportune time to get another win. Something they have done little of this year. With Tyreke Evans out another game since he sustained his injury, the Nets had hoped a win could come a little easier at the Izod Center, and it did.The Nets who beat the Kings 93-79, brought a franchise-record 14-game losing streak at home to an end. The Nets are now 4-31 in their building. The Nets now need two more wins in their last eleven games to avoid Philadelphia’s record of 9 total wins in the ’72-’73 season. Brook Lopez took advantage of the Kings' poor interior defense scoring 22 points, grabbing 12 boards an

Tyreke Tuesdays: Evans cools off before getting injured

Kings rookie guard Tyreke Evans was playing the best basketball of his rookie season, but his it took a bad turn during last Friday's game against the Milwaukee Bucks. Late in the fourth quarter, Evans was hit by Ersan Ilyasova while he was swinging his elbows. As a result, Evans sustained a slight concussion, a bruised jaw and two cracked teeth. A fractured jaw was feared to be the diagnosis, and it would have been a horrible end to his spectacular first season in the NBA. He'll miss at least a week, which includes games against the Los Angeles Clippers, Memphis Grizzlies, New Jersey Nets and possibly the Boston Celtics. In the last two games played until his injury, Evans chalked up 2
