Sacramento, CA | Motorcycle engines roared, dirt flew and riders grabbed air Saturday in the fortieth annual Hangtown Classic. Short went on to say "...the 2009 Lucas Oil AMA Pro Motocross Champion had an up and down season during his title defense, but with a clean bill of health and support from Factory Honda, Reed is eager to show his younger counterparts that he's still ready to mix it up."

Fly and Drive the Switchblade™

Sam Bousfield, inventor of the Switchblade™ spoke to a crowd during a forum at the recent Golden West Regional Fly-In and Air Show in Yuba City with a scale model at his side.   What if you owned a vehicle that could take you "down the road" as well as up, up and away, into the friendly skies? Parked in your home garage, it would await your plans for a road and/or air trip. Just pack, load and go. Forget about long waiting lines at the airport terminal. No more boarding passes and passing through security. No sitting at the departure gate hoping your plane leaves on time. You can get above all of that without leaving the comfort of your own vehicle. The Switchblade Multi-Mode Vehicle is a two-passenger three-wheeled motorcycle with fully retractable wings that turns it into a plane. Well, at least it will be, said Bousfield, who hasn't yet actually built a working model. This Saturday, he will bring a quarter-scale model of his imagined vehicle to the California Auto Museum's "Born To Ride" exhibit, which will b

Motorcyle ride to redemption

Learning to ride a motorcycle is a long and winding road. California is full of people with all sorts of interesting hobbies that border on the edge of insanity. One example of an insane hobby involves putting on a helmet, a jacket and a pair of gloves, long pants and shoes or boots that cover your ankles, and then getting on a gas powered rocket. After taking a detour for six years, I am getting back on the rocket and on the road to owning my first motorcycle. I began my journey in November of 2003 by registering for a motorcycle safety course on Travis Air Force Base. The course was a Department of Defense requirement for airmen operating motorcycles on a military installation. Tha
