Student fashion designers and stylists showcased their talent at the Styles of Paradise Charity Fashion Show on Friday night. Several hundred guests attended the event held at the University Union Ballroom at Sacramento State University. The Student Fashion Association (SFA) event benefitted the Autism Center for Excellence (A.C.E.) in honor of April’s National Autism Awareness Month. Some last minute rehearsals took place on and around the runway. Several models practiced their walk and looked for places to stand, pose, pivot and turn as DJ Elliot Estes played in the background. (Elks Tower Ballroom) The Emerging Designers Fashion Show on Friday night officially started off with KCRA’s Kristin Marshall serving as Showcase Host for this Sacramento Fashion Week event. Hours before the actual fashion show began designers, models, hair and makeup artists, interns, producers, vendors, caterers, video camera, light and sound technicians worked up to the last minute backstage before Kristin Marshall took the stage. Several designers, hair and make-up artists, models and photographers got together to celebrate the start of Sacramento Fashion Week. A Launch Party that officially kicked off Sac Fashion Week was held Thursday night at the Lounge on 20. Magnum Opus is the producer of this event. After months of preparation the Emerging Designer Showcase will feature the works of Aubrey Jade, Brenda Vie, Faatui Toele, Kira Martinson, Maisha Bahati, Nkaujer Jules Thor and Noognuv Thao. The fashion show, featuring local designers, will take place at the Elks Tower Ballroom. The Finale Designer Showcase will take the stage on Saturday evening. Student Fashion Association Presented Viva la Fashion, a charity fashion show, held at the Sacramento State’s University Union Ballroom. The fashion show benefited WEAVE inc. Weave has provided crisis intervention services to women, men, and children in Sacramento County. It serves those who have experienced domestic violence or have been sexually assaulted. Models, designers, stylists, family and friends mingled before the fashion show and were very excited about the event. The stage and catwalk were well lit and high above so that everyone had a fairly unobstructed view.
