People enjoyed musings about the movie business from the Chicago native and Sun-Times columnist Richard Roeper Wednesday night at the Community Center Theater for the fourth installment of the Sacramento Speaker Series. He said people often come up to him at parties and say, “I want your job. You get to watch movies all day then talk about them.” What they mean is, “Any idiot can do you job.” After annually reviewing 250 films, many run together, he said. Big-name speakers headed to Sacramento

Condoleezza Rice, Lisa Ling and film critic Richard Roeper are some of the speakers who will come to Sacramento for the seventh season of the Sacramento Speakers Tour, which begins Oct. 11 at the Community Center Theater downtown. “It’s a beneficial community experience, a chance to get up close and personal with nationally known individuals enriching the community for a vast and wide amount of topics,” said Angie Fotiades, a spokeswoman for the tour. Kings 100 is a winner with the fans

Meet the Kings 100. The Sacramento Kings unveiled the Kings 100, a community program that aims to reconnect the Kings with the Sacramento area Tuesday night. The group's honorary executive director Sheriff Lou Blanas led a press conference before the Kings/Warriors game at Arco Arena. Flanked by Gavin Maloof, former KCRA anchor Kelly Brothers and Bobby Jackson, Blanas outlined the plan. The Kings have chosen 100 fans to act as ambassadors for the Kings.
