While nearly every other advertisement, movie, or song today at least subtly references the 1980s, some of those relics are still fighting for relevance. Foreigner, the band famous for hits such as “Cold as Ice,” “Hot Blooded,” and “I Want to Know What Love is,” is coming to Wheatland’s Sleep Train Amphitheatre on Friday, Oct. 14. Foreigner has been touring continuously for six years now. Despite lineup changes, and writing and recording music for thirty-five years, the band is continuing to move forward. Foreigner is currently promoting its latest album, “Feels Like the First Time,” a triple-disc set that contains one CD of acoustic versions of hits, one CD of re-recorded studio versio
The Glee Live 2011 Tour rolled into Sacramento last night a day late, but no one in the sold-out Power Balance Pavilion crowd seemed to care. It was an extremely exuberant crowd, with the screaming and cheering starting long before the curtain went up. The show had every one of the students featured in the TV show, plus Matthew Morrison (the New Directions director, Will Schuester) and Jane Lynch (Cheerios cheerleading coach, Sue Sylvester) via video. All performed as their characters, reprising a surprisingly long list of the production numbers from “Glee.” They quickly put to rest any questions about their ability to perform live at the high-quality level of the television numbers. Hope Productions, a Sacramento nonprofit hosting Hanson McClain’s WalkNRock, will be bringing a piece of the hit band Journey to Second Saturday on May 9 in midtown. The band itself won’t make it to Sacramento until their concert at Raley Field on May 23. But through the support of dozens of volunteers, midtown restaurants, clubs, bands and business owners, their hit song “Don’t Stop Believin’” will be playing at 7 p.m. this Saturday throughout the midtown area (primarily near 19th and Capital and J and 20th Streets). In the spirit of public performances, the “Hope” is for the thousands in attendance to join in for a sing-and-dance-along to bring awareness to the upcoming concert and ch
In my previous article, "Susan Stream: Learning about Reiki," Stream discusses how she came to the Japanese healing art of Reiki (you can read that article by clicking the Storyline tab to the right). This segment finishes her story, and talks about how she became a Shamanic Healer. Exploring the Shamanic world was something that Stream was originally very skeptical about. Having watched metaphysical shows, she at first thought, "Nah, this just can't be real." But, her curiosity led her to learn more about this world - and it turns out that this decision increased her clarity about her true life's purpose. "What I understand is that I have been freed of judgement," Stream says. "And
