In 1987 he took over leadership of an existing rebel group and renamed it the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA). The LRA has earned a reputation for its cruel and brutal tactics. When Joseph Kony found himself running out of fighters, he started abducting children to be soldiers in his army or “wives” for his officers. The LRA is encouraged to rape, mutilate, and kill civilians–often with blunt weapons. Local Community Offers FREE Film Screening

FUSION Ministries is hosting a free screening of "TONY"; the latest film by Invisible Children , and this is no normal indie film. There is a long-running conflict in in Africa by which Joseph Kony terrorizes 5 countries with soldiers who are children abducted from their homes and forced to fight. Invisible Children is an organization which defines themselves as a movement seeking to end this conflict and bring them home by rebuilding schools, educating future leaders, and providing jobs in northern Uganda. Fresh Dispenser fashion show at Harlow's

This Thursday attendees will get a preview of back-to-school looks during Fresh Dispenser, a fashion show event whose proceeds will go to Invisible Children, a non-profit organization devoted to ending institutions of cruelty and subjugation in Uganda. The idea for the event was birthed about eight months ago by local event-planning group First Dirt, said Tim Morales, one of the group's founders and event coordinators. The group wanted to promote the business of local clothing stores that they know and love, Morales said.
