A great evening was had by all who attended Launch 2011 at the Greens Hotel. Dozens of artists, vendors, musicians, architects, designers, photographers and fashionistas contributed to this grand event. Launch 2011 began at 5 o’clock on Saturday, July 23 and continued well into the early morning.  As guests entered the hotel, the pool area was used as the main entrance. DJs Mike Diamond, My Cousin Vinny and Jon Droll provided some great sounds for pool party guests. The event aims to create an experience that allows Sacramento artists to join forces in producing a creative community that works for art and the community. The Greens Hotel – an ecologically friendly boutique hotel in North Sacramento – was listed for sale on loopnet.com on the first week in May with an asking price of $1.4 million by owner Dan Friedlander. Friedlander said Monday he has received three "solid offers," but he's not sure if he will accept any of them, adding that he prefers to have the hotel managed by someone who will take it forward in the same vein. Vhcle Magazine set the mood for their Launch Design and Music festival with a swanky location and a variety of tunes Saturday evening at the Greens Hotel on Del Paso Boulevard. The festival was a celebration of design and the arts, as well as a way for Vhcle to brand itself in the Sacramento community, according to Michael Hargis, an architectural designer and coordinator of the event. The Greens hotel is mother nature-meets-urban design. Hargis described the hotel as “1950s mid-century modern.” Upon entering the hotel, brown and green hues meet the eyes and lights hang from the ceiling. While high-fashion style and sexy are likely the last things that come to mind when thinking about Del Paso Boulevard, the “I Hella Love Fashion” fashion show hosted at the trendy Greens Hotel can only be summed up by those words. Coordinated by Noelle Tavares of the clothing line Faedrah’s and sponsored by Vitamin Water and Skin Deep Finishing Institute, the open space formerly occupied by Article Salon and Boutique was transformed Saturday night into a runway showcasing some of Sacramento’s most talented designers.
