Saturday: Verge Ahead into 2012

Verge Center for the Arts has remained a consistent hub of creativity for Sacramento since they first opened their doors as a private art gallery in 2009. In 2010 they expanded into their current space—a 22,000 square foot warehouse in Downtown Sacramento—and organized as a nonprofit. Now home to 30 resident studio artists, plus extensive gallery and event space, Verge continues their mission of exposing Sacramento to the contemporary art and artists of the region. 2011 was a particularly big year for Verge. Greens Hotel Hosts Launch 2011

A great evening was had by all who attended Launch 2011 at the Greens Hotel. Dozens of artists, vendors, musicians, architects, designers, photographers and fashionistas contributed to this grand event. Launch 2011 began at 5 o’clock on Saturday, July 23 and continued well into the early morning.  As guests entered the hotel, the pool area was used as the main entrance. DJs Mike Diamond, My Cousin Vinny and Jon Droll provided some great sounds for pool party guests. Architectural and furniture designers showcased their products and many of the hotel rooms exhibited their work. Other rooms were occupied by fashion, photography, art, music and Launch guests. The Hub: Sacramento's 'secret' venue

The Hub is perhaps Sacramento's best music venue you've never heard about. The location is secret, only members can attend shows and newcomers are invited by word of mouth. Once you attend a show, you've become an official member. A required $1 fee for first-timers adds your name to The Hub's e-mail list that will send you information about future shows. The Hub's four founders requested their identities and the location of the venue remain anonymous.
