Charles and Ray Eames: Designers of more than just chairs That’s not the title of the documentary being shown on Tuesday at the Crest Theatre, but it very well could be. “Eames: The architect and the painter” will be screened at 7:30pm (doors open at 6:30pm) in a special event to benefit the Eames exhibit at the California Museum. Earlier this week, the local owners of six La-Z-Boy Furniture Galleries stores in Northern California donated nearly $12,000 worth of beautiful La-Z-Boy furniture to a privately funded home for recently emancipated foster youth in Placer County. Purchased by a concerned citizen and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) volunteer, “Taylor House” is a six-bedroom, newly remodeled home located in downtown Roseville. Once furnished, the home will welcome its first young women residents -- all of whom are no longer able to stay in a foster care environment after turning 18 years of age -- within the next few weeks. The Makers Lab is Sacramento’s newest design-build group and artist collaborative. The Makers Lab will be showcasing a small body of work from some of it’s most prolific members at the Applied Arts building this Saturday. Located at 2418 K street the Applied Arts Building is a new center for emerging architecture and design in the Sacramento region. The Makers Lab will be showing a variety of built work ranging from custom tables, lighting, mobiles, fine art and reclaimed objects. Trisha Rhomberg and Olivia Coelho, owners of the Bows & Arrows Boutique, held their second Sellout Buyout Art & Fashion Bazaar of the year during June's Second Saturday Art Walk. Bows & Arrows is a vintage store that buys, sells and trades all fashion trends. It is located at 1712 L Street in midtown Sacramento.
