Second Saturday meeting set

Sacramento Police continued their search Wednesday for the suspect in a fatal shooting after the September Second Saturday Art Walk, while community leaders continued talks on possible solutions to the violence and problems plaguing the event. With the city still reeling in the wake of the killing, city officials will hold a public forum on the shooting on Sept. 25. And on Wednesday night, the Midtown Business Association agreed to spend $19,000 to fund a three-month pilot program using volunteer guides to assist people on Midtown streets weekend nights. Fatal motorcycle accident on Sunrise near Sunset

Sacramento CA- A Rancho Cordova man dies in a motorcycle vs construction equipment accident in Citrus Heights. Just before 3 a.m. Friday morning, CHP and Sacramento Metro Fire Department responded to a motorcycle accident on Sunrise Blvd just before Sunset Ave in Citrus Heights .Per CHP, a Sacramento County construction crew was doing sweage work and witnessed a Rancho Cordova man, possibly traveling at a high rate of speed on a full dressed Yamaha, hit a cone in the contruction zone. Fatal accident on Hwy 50 near I-5

 A life was lost this morning when a disabled vehicle was slammed into on Hwy 50 in Downtown Sacramento May 25, 2010, Sacramento, CA The call came in at 12:40 this morning for an accident that occurred on west bound HWY50 just before the North Bound I-5 interchange downtown. A Z28 broke down on the freeway just before the interchange and was slammed into by a second vehicle. The CHP officer on scene stated that they are not sure yet if the Z28 ran out of gas or was broken down. CHP also stated that there were no skid marks indicating that the driver of second vehicle probably didn't even see the white Z28 before slamming into it at full speed. Arden apartment fire claims a life

 Sacramento, CA- At 11:27 pm, Tuesday night, Metro Fire received multiple calls for an apartment fire at 2420 Arden Way, #52. After speaking with Christian Peebles (Metro Fire PIO) this morning , we learned that when fire units arrived, they found the bottom floor of the unit fully involved. The fire was contained to that unit, however 3 other units were smoke damaged, per Peebles. Metro Fire arrived in 5 min and quickly knocked the fire down in 10 minutes with 18 firefighters, saving the rest of the apartment complex. Per Peebles, there was one fatality. Pest control worker killed in porch collapse

When this pest control worker went to work today, he probably didn't expect to never come home for dinner again. Two pest control workers had been working on termite damage on a Curtis Park home the past few days. The previous owner of the home was a lady who lived to be 100 and passed away a few months ago. The home was up for sale with extensive termite and dry rot damage. Today, the two men were working under the cement slab front porch when the edges gave way and the entire weight of the slab came down on them. Capt. Doucette of the Sacramento Fire Department guestimated the slab to be well over 1000 lbs. The surviving partner stated that they were removing some "dark dry rot damage
