The 24 Hour Fitness club in Downtown Plaza will soon be expanding to incorporate a full-size basketball court, racquetball court and other amenities. The 30,000-square-foot-club will grow to 50,000 square feet by the fall of 2011 and also include an indoor lap pool and new group exercise and cardio areas, said Danny Cowan, spokesman for 24 Hour Fitness. “It’s a great situation for the K Street Mall and the city of Sacramento,” said Club Manager Joel Bouchereau. “We are looking forward to offering the Sacramento community an expanded state-of-the art club with the latest amenities and features to help them reach their fitness goals,” said Jim McPhail, 24 Hour Fitness chief development of

Later this month the next milestone in the expansion of the Sutter Medical Center in midtown will be the switchover from the existing Energy Center off of 29th Street to the new Energy Center in the basement of Sutter Capitol Pavilion on 28th Street. Demolition of the existing Energy Center is slated to begin later that month with steel expected to rise up for the Anderson Lucchetti Center site later this year
Nearly 100 panels of reflective glass are installed in the wall of the new expansion facing the existing Crocker Art Museum today. The older structure reflects off the panels. The reflective material inside the panels has a dotted look, a halftone pattern, when see upclose. The glass is triple-paned, and it has a couple layers of special coatings that have reflective qualities meant to limit the amount of heat entering the Museum.It will be comfortable temperature- and vision-wise while sitting inside the new Crocker's atrium/cafe area.
