Time travel, made easy.

 Drive-in movies.  I have always loved them.  Almost more than the movies themselves, I love my romanticized notion of them. I am madly in love with the classic Americana for which the Drive-In is so symbolic.  It is hard to describe the way that drive-in movies make me feel, it's something akin to an ecstatic melancholy. They harken to a simpler time, a time that I never really got to experience firsthand, but one that I can easily imagine while stuffing my face with popcorn and enjoying a movie under the stars from the hood of my car. I can vividly recall the first drive-In movie I ever attended: "E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial."  It was the summer of 1982, and I had just turned four year

Bikes at the Drive-in

A festive, county fair sort of atmosphere prevailed as people milled around with frames yoked over their shoulders, talking bikes, and revving their engines Sunday at the Vintage Bicycle and Motorcycle Swap Meet. A line of eager cycle enthusiasts stretching a quarter mile waited for the gates to open as early as 7 a.m. Sunday morning where Sacramento 6 Drive-in hosted the Vintage Bicycle and Motorcycle Swap Meet. Vintage Bike Swap Meet at Sacramento 6 Drive-in Sunday the 12th

You’d look sweet upon the seat of a bicycle built for two. Or any bike for that matter.   Hobbyists, collectors and vendors alike will be gathering in tandem at the Sacramento 6 Drive-in from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 12. for the Sacramento Cycle Swap Meet.   A huge variety of new, used and vintage motorcycle and bicycle parts and accessories will be available for sale at low prices. I Like Mine With Lettuce and Tomato. . . .

       The cheeseburger.  Is there anything so uniting and yet polarizing at the same time?  Everybody loves cheeseburgers.  What about the tree-hugging vegans, you ask?  They love cheeseburgers too, but the burger is made of bulgur and whey and twigs, and the cheese is made of soy, whatever that is.  The top-selling vegan product today is the veggie burger.  That's a fact.  Look it up. And when you do, let me know what you find out, because I'm using the word "fact" very loosely here.   The point is, everyone loves burgers. There you go, we're united.
