de Vere's St. Pat's Pub Party And A Wee Bit More

This year de Vere's Irish Pub has decided to expand their St. Patrick's Day celebration by hosting two parties in one day.  Due to the crowds over the  past few years, de Vere's felt it would be better to create two parties so people could have better access to each venue and celebrate in style. de Vere's is hosting a Party in the Park with the Downtown Partnership, hoping to raise money for Maryhouse a local shelter for homless women and children, while providing a rock concert artomsphere in Caesr Chavez Park. This Party in the Park will host a large stage, enetertainment, local resturaunts, and about 4,000 possible new friends!  de vere's is still hosting a party at their Pub on 16th

Soaking in Sacramento: Dine Downtown

The time of year is here again for locals to venture out and experience some of our neighborhoods' finest eateries. Being in the restaurant business for most of my life, I have had the privilege of eating in some of the greatest food cities: New York, Miami, Las Vegas and San Francisco. The upcoming Dine Downtown week in Sacramento is an event that can satisfy even the most finicky foodie and rival any of those cities. Promoter Jerry Perry, who has been arranging the multi-act shows, all featuring local musicians, since 1997, just got permission from the city to extend the concerts another five weeks. And this time, Perry will be in charge of the whole event, over the five-week series. Called “End of Summer Fest,” it will begin when the current series of concerts ends on Aug. 14. “I’ve always felt that the season ends too soon,” he said by phone Tuesday. “But I was never completely in charge before.” The shows are generally sponsored by the Downtow

The State of Downtown breakfast meeting

Traveling under grey skies, through rain-soaked streets, about 600 members of Sacramento’s downtown movers and shakers gathered at the Memorial Auditorium for the annual State of Downtown breakfast Thursday morning. Hosted by Michael Ault, executive director of the Downtown Partnership, the breakfast featured a keynote speech by consultant Brad Segal, president of Progressive Urban Management Associates (PUMA) in Denver, as well as a video greeting from Congresswoman Doris Matsui and a speech from new Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson, who flew in the night before from Washington, D.C. Johnson was clearly pumped up by his trip to see the inauguration of President Barack Obama, and reference
