Election night is over but Sacramento County workers are still wading in ballots. The Sacramento County Voter Registration and Elections Department must keep counting votes, according to Brad Buyse, the county’s campaign services manager. Tens of thousands of vote-by-mail ballots were turned in Tuesday, he said. As of 11:20 p.m., District 7 City Council candidate Darrell Fong said he was hopeful. “We’ll see how the race ends up,” he said. “We’re ahead and our numbers are going up, but until the precincts are counted, we’re hopeful. We’ve had a great time, and there’s a lot of support, a lot of volunteers,” Fong said. “In the primaries we were 800 votes down, so we’ve closed the gap. As polling began Tuesday morning, accusations flew between District 7 candidates. Darrell Fong claimed that volunteers from Ryan Chin's campaign were removing his signs and harassing voters at polling places. But it was too soon to call the races Tuesday at 11:45 p.m. because of problems with Sacramento County’s election results website. In a statement Tuesday on his blog, Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson made his endorsements for candidates competing in the June 8 primary election.  A KCRA reporter asked Johnson at a Monday press conference if Johnson would endorse candidates who oppose a “strong mayor” form of government.
