Sacramento New Year’s Eve Dinner Gala Hornblower Yacht 1206 Front Street Boarding at 6:45 p.m. Cruise is from 7 p.m. – 10 p.m. $128 per person. Discounts are available for seniors and children Get a private viewing of the fireworks on the river aboard the Hornblower Yacht. Hornblower Cruises and Events offers a three-hour cruise that includes a four-course seated dinner, a cocktail bar that includes dinner liqueurs and house champagne. Earlier this year, Woody Allen allowed all those who desired to take a step back into Paris in the 20’s with his hypnotizing film, “Midnight in Paris.” This New Year’s Eve at midnight, an underground speakeasy in Sacramento will play host to another world as well. The Crescent Club Speakeasy in Old Sacramento will host a Roaring 20’s party from 9 p.m. to 2 a.m. Upon entering the concealed back door through the Firehouse alley, visitors will enter an enchanting underground world complete with prohibition era cocktails and appetizers. It was a night for vampires, demons, ghouls and ghosts at the Vampire Ball in Old Sacramento, where the costumed mingled with the mortals in the dimly lit dungeon of the Crescent Club Speakeasy beneath the Newton Booth Mansion. Despite the rain, the paranormal-themed event drew guests from all across the Central Valley, from Loomis to Stockton. Most were dressed in black and red with fangs or bite-marks, perusing the crowd the way one shops for hamburger meat, alternating between the outdoor patio and the two dance floors. “I think it was spectacular,” event coordinator Shannon McCabe said. “There were so many wonderful performers.” McCabe began her night in the role of Susie Stackhouse
Café Americain is celebrating summer with three bashes next month. The Old Sacramento restaurant is throwing parties for Bastille Day on July 10, the grand opening of Sacramento's first "speakeasy" on July 16 and a Summer Bohemian Ball on July 17. Owners Mike and Natalya Wahba said they want to turn their champagne and caviar house at 1023 Front St. into the place for Sacramentans to revel in fine food, decadent drink and all things passionate. "It's all about passion for life, for arts, for food, for entertainment," Mike Wahba said. "That's the standard we want to set." Fire dancers, the Sacramento Opera, Corti Brothers' owner Darrell Corti and the owners of Sterling Caviar will join
