On my trip home from Grass Valley today, I changed my route. Rather than driving I-80, I hopped on to Hwy 49 that leads to Placerville. Placerville wasn't my reason for veering from my normal route. I've known the Foresthill Restoration Project has been underway several months. This famous bridge (the tallest in California) is located about one mile east of Interstate 80 on Foresthill Road, spanning the North Fork Canyon above the American River. An Indian film company spent some time in Sacramento recently shooting scenes for a love story, with Capitol Mall standing in for the streets of San Francisco and Placerville standing in for Brazil. Wide Angle Creations is a production company based in South India, whose film industry, Tollywood, is the counterpart to North India's Bollywood. The company came to Sacramento to work on the film "180," which features Siddharth and Priya Anand. Siddharth, who goes only by his first name, is also in Disney's first Southern Indian movie "Once Upon a Warrior." In "180," he stars as a successful San Francisco-area doctor who falls in love, marries and encounters trials and tribulations in life.

SACRAMENTO – More than 10,000 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and their friends will descend on parks throughout the Sacramento region Saturday, May 8, to perform necessary work from clean-up and general maintenance to painting, planting trees and even construction jobs.
