A medical marijuana dispensary is swapping a controversial East Sacramento location for a new spot in an industrial zone following opposition from neighbors. The Healing Center or "THC" stopped operating at 3257 Folsom Blvd. on Friday, Feb. 11. A consultant for the dispensary, which has also done business as CC 101, notified the city it will be moving to 6435 Florin Perkins Road. Sacramento code enforcement personnel were following up Friday to make sure four medical marijuana dispensaries have shut down. Letters were mailed Friday to property owners and the owners of all four shops after none of them submitted applications to operate legally under the city's new rules by a Monday deadline. Two shops were located in Midtown. Officials are asking the community to help keep an eye out for any new dispensaries that may open up during the city's first attempt to regulate the shops. All four appear to be closed. Letters must still be sent notifying owners that they must stop operating, if they haven't already, within 15 days of the letter or the city will take action

Rob Turner, co-editor of Sactown Magazine, wrote what I found to be a truly inspired back page article in the Magazine's sixteen issue. So aptly titled "Meals on Wheels,"  the one-pager succintcly broke down the issue, the barriers, and the plan for allowing mobile food vendors to roam the streets of Sacramento.  Personally, I have read the city ordinances but I still cannot quite understand the reasoning that prohibits such glorious eating establishments from taking root in our fine city.  (Perhaps you can, so be it, but I really think we're missing out.)  I chose to heed Rob Turner's advice and write to city council member and Vice Mayor Steve Cohn (as well as the editors of SacTown Maga

However, on garbage and recycle collection nights, I have been woken by the sounds of someone going through the recycle cans and collecting the cans and glass bottles. If you live in the city limits, you can call the Police Department’s non-emergency number at 264-5471 and request an officer be dispatched. There is an ordinance that makes it illegal to rummage through recyclables.
