Sacramento City College politics go Green

As Earth welcomed its 7 billionth child Nov. 1, international concern for diminishing world resources and mounting pollution are on the rise. This concern not only stems from the number of people on the planet, but how those people consume and dispose of their resources. However, depending upon how the international community prepares for that challenge, it could serve as an opportunity for positive change. Sacramento City College Professor Aids Students in Understanding War.

Sacramento City College psychology professor Tom Bruce delivered an insightful speech to students defining what war is and the psychological reasoning behind it Oct. 13 in Rodda Hall North 228.                  The event brought to light that the term war has been diluted and disfigured to such an extreme that it is inappropriately used on a frequent basis.                       “We have watered down the definition of war to the fact that so we now have a war on obesity and so soon enough we are going to have drive-by shootings by Weight Watchers,” said Bruce, while demonstrating how the term would sound if used appropriately. “Back in the  ’60s they had a war on poverty and one of the j

Snapshot Sacramento

Photographers are being rallied all over the Sacramento region to help end the growing chronic homelessness problem. From Sept. 13 until Sept. 19 photographers will be snapping pictures of inspiring moments across Sacramento. According to the official rules, the themes for the photographs are: home and family life, work, play, faith, and Sacramento. "Homelessness is personal to me -- my son is homeless," said Don Nahhas, president of Snapshot Sacramento. "There is only so much you can do to help, and with the proceeds from this, those who want help have a way and an avenue to get help."
