All the glitz and glamour of Tinsel Town’s Academy Awards night once again came to the annual Capital City AIDS Fund benefit gala, Oscar Night Sacramento. Chosen by the Academy of Motion Picture and Arts and Sciences, Oscar Night Sacramento is one of only 49 sanctioned events in the country. Oscar Night America is a "grassroots program that enables local charities to host glamorous Oscar viewing parties and raise money for their organizations," according to an AMPAS press release. To set these parties apart from the thousands of unsanctioned events on Oscar Night, each ONA party receives copies of the official commemorative poster and show program among other items. Saturday, Sept. 11 11:30 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Bikram Yoga Elk Grove will be hosting a yoga session and providing premade packed lunches for participants at Area 22, the grassy area just north of the fish pond. Around 100 participants are expected to attend. Sunday, Sept. 12 7 a.m. - 2 p.m. The 10th annual Capitol City AIDS Fund Run/Walk and Health Fair will take place on the West Steps of the Capitol. The 5K run around Capitol Park begins at 8:30 a.m. and the 5k walk begins at 9 a.m. The award ceremony and health fair will be held at 10 a.m. About 2000 people are expected to attend.
Saturday, Sept. 12 No events are scheduled for this day. Sunday, Sept. 13 8 a.m. - 2 p.m. Capitol City Aids Fund will be holding their annual walk and rally at the Capitol. Those who wish to walk or run the 5K course around the Capitol can register at Fleet Feet Sports, 2311 J St., from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The group will also be holding a health fair on the west steps of the Capitol will provide healthy snacks and drinks.
