Limos filled with celebrities lined J Street for the 2011 California Hall of Fame Awards Ceremony at the Memorial Auditorium Thursday. The first ceremony in Sacramento was in 2006. The prestigious event was established by former California first lady Maria Shriver. The event was created to honor legendary people in California who encapsulate California’s “innovative” spirit. Many of the inductees were no stranger to the limelight. Rob Lowe, Lucy Liu and previous inductee Clint Eastwood, among others, graced the red carpet this year. It's been annouced that Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson and Journalist Lisa Ling will be hosting the 2011 California Hall of Fame in Sacramento next month. Both natives of Sacramento, Johnson is more than thrilled looking to host star studded event according to a press release. Last year, Ling hosted the event that was broadcasted live on Comcast with a journalist from the E! network, that turned out to be a success. This year the inducee's include The Beach Boys, Magic Johnson and Carlos Santana to name a few well known names. The others include people who've made a difference in California. The California Museum’s biggest fundraiser – The California Hall of Fame induction ceremony – is moving from its small setting in the museum auditorium to Memorial Auditorium, increasing seating almost tenfold. “The museum auditorium doesn’t allow for very many people to attend,” said museum spokeswoman Brenna Hamilton. “We’re now able to have a substantially larger audience so we can invite more people, including 500 museum members, which has never been done before.” Beginning in 2006, and until last year, the ceremony was held in the museum, where it could seat roughly 260 people. Close to 10,000 people gathered at the California Museum on Thursday for the first "Day at the Museum" to get a little bit of pampering and a lot of empowerment. The star-studded event was part of first lady Maria Shriver's annual The Women's Conference in honor of Women's History Month. The day included exhibits, presentations, speeches and tours of the museum. "Today is the most successful day [at the museum] in all of California's history," Shriver told the audience. The day began early with a meet-and-greet session in the museum's lobby with Shriver, California Secretary of State Debra Bowen, Speaker Emeritus Karen Bass, and other female legislators, mayors and district attorneys.

It wasn't your average Monday night in Sacramento. Despite temperatures being in the 30s and 40s, a swarm of people huddled around the red carpet anticipating the big stars to come. The California Museum inducted 12 honorary members on Monday night, welcoming them to the infamous California Hall of Fame. Among the inductees were Jack Nicholson, Jane Fonda, Jack LaLanne, Alice Waters, Quincy Jones, David Brubeck, Leland Stanford and others. One of the first celebrities to arrive was Clint Eastwood.
