Bacon and Butter, Midtown’s newest breakfast, lunch and brunch restaurant, opened on Sunday, and Chef Billy Zoellin said Tuesday that the first day was a learning experience, but the restaurant is now running smoothly. “Our most popular dish has been the biscuits and gravy,” he said, adding that all of the food options are his own creations and the focus is on freshness. “We take the classics and give them a whimsical twist,” he added. WOW! AMAZING! Cafe Americain is incredible! I stumbled upon this restaurant while I was looking for a venue to hold my yearly Halloween Vampire Ball. I could not have found a better place anywhere. I'll start with my food experience: WOW! I sat down at the beautiful antique bar when a lovely bartender, Chelsea, greeted me and asked me if I'd like to try the Caviar & Champagne Special ($10.00). East Sacramento has a new hangout: The Corner Restaurant & Bar, which opened its doors for business last Friday. "I want this to be a place people want to come and hang out at," said owner Joel Thompson. "As cliche as it sounds, I hope The Corner will be a place like the 'Cheers' bar 'where everyone knows your name.'" The Corner is located down the street from Sacramento State University at the corner of 57th and J streets in the historic building that was home to the original Shakey's Pizza until the mid-1990s.
