The River Cats won against visiting Storm Chasers, 9-4, in last night's game at Raley Field. The home team had an early lead with 2-0 in the first inning. In the second inning Storm Chasers came back and took the lead 4-3. By the fourth inning, it was a tied ball game at 4-4. With five errors from the Storm Chasers, and an incredible performance by the River Cats with all but one making a hit, the latter won with a lead of 9-4. Here are photos from the exciting game:

The Sacramento River Cats extended their winning streak to three with a 6-1 victory over the Colorado Springs Sky Sox at Raley Field Thursday night. Starting pitcher Bruce Billings gave the River Cats another solid outing to bring his record to 2-1 with a 3.05 ERA. He provided seven innings of work, giving up no runs on five hits and striking out six. Sacramento was able to pounce on Sky Sox starting pitcher Brandon Hynick early, giving Billings two-run support in the first inning. Outfielder Jermaine Mitchell started the inning with a triple to deep center field. Mitchell then scored on a double from Collin Cowgill to give the River Cats their first lead of the game. The Sacramento River Cats dominated Wednesday's game against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox at Raley Field, winning 8-3 and taking a 2-1 series lead. The River Cats' record for day games this season is now 6-1 and their overall record is 18-9. The River Cats took the lead in the first inning and never looked back. Jermaine Mitchell scored on an infield play as Brandon Moss was thrown out at first base. Chris Carter scored from second base on a fielding error by Sky Sox third baseman Jordan Pacheco. Third baseman Josh Donaldson led the River Cats to a 7-1 victory against the Colorado Springs Sky Sox at Raley Field Tuesday night. Donaldson finished the game 3-4 and a walk, including a two-run double that gave the Cats the lead in the fifth inning. Donaldson finished the game with three runs batted in. Sacramento starting pitcher Graham Godfrey had another solid outing as he pitched six innings and struck out five batters while giving up six hits and one unearned run. Colorado’s only run came in the second inning when shortstop Brendan Harris reached base on an error by River Cats shortstop Adam Rosales. The Sacramento River Cats pounced all over the Tucson Padres to win 11-3 at Raley Field Sunday afternoon. The win earns the River Cats a split of the series, as they won the first and final games and the Padres won the two in between. It didn’t take long for the River Cats bats to come alive, quickly scoring two runs off of Padres starting pitcher Mark Pope. But the Cats weren’t done there. Sacramento was able to tally on another five runs in the second inning to bring the lead to 7-0. The five-run frame featured a three-run home run from catcher Josh Donaldson with two outs. The Sacramento River Cats' offense struggled on Friday night as the River Cats fell to the Tucson Padres 5-1 at Raley Field. The River Cats' only offense came in the first inning with the first River Cat that stepped up to the plate. Leadoff batter Jermaine Mitchell, took a 0-1 pitch and launched it over the right field wall for his first homerun of the season, and 50th of his career. This brought the score to a 1-1 tie as Padres catcher Yasmani Grandal had hit a home run of his own with two out in the top of the first. The top of the first inning proved eventful as the Padres' first batter, left fielder Daniel Robertson, was hit by the pitcher in the left shoulder. Second baseman Everth Cabrera was out after lining out to River Cats short stop Adam Rosales. Right fielder Sawyer Carroll hit a fly into a double play, which was caught by right fielder River Cats' Jermaine Mitchell. Jermaine Mitchell came within a home run of hitting for the cycle Friday night as the Sacramento River Cats snapped a brief two-game losing streak with a 7-4 win over the Tacoma Rainiers. Sacramento’s left fielder wasted no time getting the offense going as he led off the home half of the first inning with his first triple of the season. The shot to the gap in right-center field rolled all the way to the wall, allowing Mitchell to fly around the bases. He would score the game’s first run on a ground ball out by designated hitter Michael Taylor. The Sacramento River Cats (10-3) were able to extend their winning streak to four as they defeated the Tacoma Rainiers (4-8) 5-1 at Raley Field Tuesday night. Right fielder Michael Taylor continued his strong start to the season, recording two doubles and a walk on four at-bats. Taylor entered the game batting .413 with one home run and 11 runs batted in. Taylor's .413 batting average heading into Tuesday night's game was ranked seventh in the Pacific Coast League. “I feel good at the plate,” he said. “I feel comfortable with everything I’ve worked on in the offseason coming into this season, and I’ve stuck to that plan and process, and right now things are going well. The River Cats lost to the Tacoma Rainiers 2-1 in final inning of Wednesday’s 10-inning game. This was the second game in the River Cats four-game series against the Rainiers. The River Cats won the previous game Tuesday 5-1. The sun shone off and on through the partially cloudy sky, and the 68-degree temperature made the stadium a comfortable place to sit and watch the game. Fans were smiling and cheering the entire time. The first inning appeared promising for the River Cats after Rainier shortstop Carlos Triunfel’s interference at bat caused the first out of the game. The interference also sent center fielder Trayvon Robinson back to first after his attempt to steal second and third.
The River Cats took another victory on Sunday in the third of the four-game home series against the Reno Aces with a score of 3-1. The game started off with two strike outs and a fly for the Aces, with River Cats starting pitcher Travis Banwart maintaining zero runs, hits and errors. After being shut out for two straight games, including their home opener on Friday night, the Sacramento River Cats got their offense back on track Saturday as their first homestand of the 2012 season continued with the Reno Aces. Grant Green and Derek Norris collected two hits apiece while Chris Carter smacked his first homerun of the season. The River Cats held on to beat the Aces by a final score of 4-3. River Cats starting pitcher Fabio Castro and three relievers combined to record ten strikeouts on the night and Castro earned his first victory of the year. After opening the 2012 season on the road eight days ago, the Sacramento River Cats finally played their home opener on Friday night. The crowd of 6,189 was treated to a classic pitcher’s duel while sitting through a brief rain shower in the early innings, but in the end they saw the River Cats fall to the visiting Reno Aces by a final score of 2-0. River Cats starting pitcher Brad Peacock allowed just one hit over six innings and it was the second inning which proved to be Peacock’s only blemish on the night. The Oakland Athletics came to town to beat their Triple-A affiliate, the Sacramento River Cats, 9-0 in a rain-shortened exhibition game on Saturday evening. More than 10,000 fans braved Raley Field for the much anticipated return of major league baseball to Sacramento – the first time in five years. The first six innings were perfect for A’s starting pitcher Tommy Milone, who retired each of the 18 batters he faced, including six strikeouts.
