Real Relationships: Baby Fever

Q: My husband and I have been married for a little over two years. I have really enjoyed the time together, but now I am ready to have a baby. I have always wanted to be a mother and can't wait to hold my own little one in my arms. All of my friends are either pregnant or just had a baby. My husband isn't on the same page as me. He isn't ready and thinks we should still wait another year or two. How can I bring him around to my way of thinking? A: Having a baby is not the kind of decision you want to make alone. You and your husband need to be in 100 percent agreement before you even start trying to have a baby. There are a hundred things to consider, not the least of which are your jobs

Kimberly Dubach of East Sacramento has been named a finalist for the cover of the first issue of Baby Lifestyles Magazine. The image was taken at her baby shower for her daughter Se'Bella earlier this year. Baby Lifestyles Magazine is a creative resource for future mothers throwing a baby shower, decorating a nursery, shopping for a baby and just excited about motherhood. "Se'Bella's baby shower was a great day," said Dubach. "I was inspired by a lot of the information and articles on the Baby Lifetstyles website, so it would be an honor to be featured on the cover of the magazine's first issue." Dubach faces some stiff competition if she is to win though, the other three finalists each

Drinking Water Fluoridation - A Roadblock to Greenness?

We keep hearing about our greenness. Here in Sacramento we have a tree program, various recycling programs, and other earth friendly initiatives. But can one policy trump all this? Can a city be truly green when it knowingly adds toxic chemicals imported from China to its drinking water? And to top it all, 99.99% of it is wasted. Lets look at the facts as the Sacramento Department of Utilities has presented them. Questions came up at a June 22, 2010 Sacramento City Council budget hearing. This resulted in a request for additional information regarding the city's water fluoridation program. On July 1st Marty Hanneman, Director of Utilities sent the Mayor & City Council members a memorandum

peace. love. swap. ~ Don't consign it, swap it!

peace. love. swap. is a one of a kind independent coalition that organizes ongoing kid's swaps. The swaps are for local eco-minded parents to get together and recycle (exchange) their kid’s stuff (ages 0-14 and maternity). After the swaps, I donate the leftovers to local charities and needy families. I'd like to invite you to view more information, read our mission statement, and see what moms are saying about our swaps at: www.peaceloveswap.com. Parents love the swaps, as much as I love coordinating them ! In order to make the swaps a success, we need as many parents as possible to participate. Kids grow up so quickly and always need new stuff just as quickly. In this economic climate,

A mother needs your help!

On July 24, 2010, I Tamika Tillis from Three Hands Together will be having a Community Baby Shower for a mother with terminal Cancer. This devastating disease prevents her from working to take care of her unborn child. By donating cash and in kind items to this cause, you are helping to create a beautiful, joyous memorable event to a woman affected with this unpredictable disease. The color schemes for this event are brown and pink. I have a personal stake in this particular event. My grandmother died from cancer. Not only do I want to help her, but also the many others diagnosed with cancer. Cancer is a disease that can affect the entire body. Some symptoms of cancer may include loss of a

Drinking Water from Rancho Cordova to Elk Grove Becoming Questionable

The city supplied drinking water in the areas of southern Rancho Cordova to Elk Grove is about to become unsafe for babies if it has not already. The plan by City of Sacramento "First 5" is to add an unnamed "Fluoridating" agent to your drinking water by 2010. As the parents of babies and anyone else interested health should know; Fluoride is a highly toxic poison. As we are not told all the facts, we only assume the city is using the standard common Fluoridating chemicals to treat the water. No test results for the actual substances used to fluoridate most drinking water have ever been provided or are even claimed to exist. On top of this are numerous reports that the supposed dental cla

Don't consign it, swap it!

Peace. Love. Swap. is a one of a kind independent coalition that organizes ongoing kid's swaps. The swaps are for local eco-minded parents to get together and recycle (exchange) their kid’s stuff (ages 0-14 and maternity). After the swaps, I donate the leftovers to local charities and needy families. How it works: You bring items to swap (clothing, toys, sports equipment, etc.) plus $5 per family. While the volunteers set up, the kids can play in our family friendly venues and parents can look around at our vendor tables. Once set up is complete, families can come in and take as much or as little as they need.   I'd like to invite you to view more information, read our mission statement,
