Galena Street East, California’s young performing ambassadors from Sacramento, will be holding auditions for the Children’s Chorus, Allegro, and East Street Gang groups on Saturday, June 4, 2011. All auditions will be held at the Sacramento Performing Arts Company Studio located at 2598 Del Monte Street in West Sacramento. These groups are the training ground to prepare young performers for Galena Street East, the performing ensemble comprised of young Sacramento ambassadors who perform locally and abroad each year. The nerves, pressure and tension could be cut with a knife during the “American Idol” auditions at Arden Fair Mall. Seventeen-year-old Sam Cracraft drove from Vallejo early this morning to ensure his place in line. “I feel like I am going to throw up,” Cracraft said. “I have never sung in front of anyone before.” Cracraft didn’t throw up, and in fact did very well, singing a song by The Script while playing his guitar (that he only just learned to play this year). Access Sacramento welcomed more than 250 eager filmmakers to the Coloma Community Center last night for the Tenth Annual "Cast & Crew Call" event. Twelve short films were "pitched" to the large group, short video auditions of each participant were recorded by Access Sacramento staff, and sign-up sheets for each film invited all to "make a movie this summer". The festive evening was kicked off by welcoming comments from Executive Director Ron Cooper and Lucy Steffens, Sacramento Film Commissioner.
