Kings trade Nocioni, Hawes for Sixers' Dalembert

The Sacramento Kings have traded disgruntled forward Andres Nocioni and third-year center Spencer Hawes to the Philadelphia 76ers for center Samuel Dalembert. Dalembert, an athletic center known for his rebounding and shot blocking, made NBA headlines this season after his native country of Haiti was struck by a catastrophic 7.0 magnitude earthquake in January. He briefly left the Sixers to visit the country and donated $100,000 to UNICEF to aid relief efforts but he played all 82 games of the season as well as the previous three seasons There were only two games he didn't start in over 328 games the past four seasons. Those games were the 2009-10 season. Dalembert averaged 8.1 points,

Lakers show Kings how it's done

There were undeniable truths when watching the Kings lose 106-99 Tuesday night to the Los Angeles Lakers at Arco Arena before a sellout crowd of 17,361. In many ways, the defending champions were everything the Kings could hope to become. As a unit, the long, athletic Lakers knew where to go on the court, when and how to get there and what to do when presented opportunities. Following a win the night before in Oakland against the Golden State Warriors, Kobe Bryant opened the game against the Kings super-aggressively with 12 first-quarter field-goal attempts. He helped set the tone, scoring a team-high 30 points, and the rest of his team followed. The natural matchup of Bryant vs. Kings

Kings break seven-game skid

When a struggle turns into a victory, it doesn't seem as things went as badly as they appeared.  So the Kings took their 99-96 victory over the Golden State Warriors Tuesday night at Arco Arena before 14,522 fans and went home happily.  Well, most of them could tolerate ineptitude when coupled with the end of a seven-game losing streak. Certainly Kings coach Paul Westphal could tolerate the victory no matter how it was produced. A KIngs Sac-era high 68 rebounds helped comfort the coach as well. "I'm not going to lie," said Westphal, whose team improved to 16-28. "It feels good to get a win. Obviously, it wasn't the prettiest win anybody ever (has) see in this league. We shot 38 percen

Kings have exceeded low expectations

Before the NBA season started, many experts predicted the Sacramento Kings would be near the bottom of the league after finishing with a 17-65 record last season. This prediction came before star guard Kevin Martin and last season's top bench scorer Francisco García went down with wrist injuries. Many also criticized the pick of rookie guard Tyreke Evans, citing that he was not the point guard that the Kings needed in a point guard-heavy draft. The Kings were bashed for hiring Paul Westphal as head coach, many critics saying that he hasn't coached an NBA game since 2000, when he coached the Seattle SuperSonics (now the Oklahoma City Thunder). It was supposed to be the perfect recipe for

Kings snag the Nuggets

A little boy named Alex walked into the Kings locker room following Sacramento’s 106-101 victory Monday against the Denver Nuggets.  The youngster held a sign that read, “Santa said I could meet Mr. Jon Brockman.” Brockman, who had grabbed 10 rebounds and scored six points, while helping the Kings use their brawn and aggression to earn the victory, said, “Alright. Now that’s a sign.” Brockman (aka Wildman) already introduced himself to the Northwest Division-leading Nuggets with his performance Wednesday to the Central Division-leading Cleveland Cavaliers and in double-overtime last Saturday to the defending world champion Los Angeles Lakers. Brockman, Andres Nocioni and Sergio Rodrig

Kings shock Bulls after trailing by 35 points, win 102-98

The Sacramento Kings trailed by a score of 79-46 points to the Chicago Bulls in the third quarter, Monday night. Kings fans were most likely turning off their TVs and radios expecting the first blowout of the year. A sold out United Center was celebrating what was supposed to be a surefire Bulls win. The ending was the exact opposite. The Kings mounted an incredible 58-19 run in the final 21 minutes as the team completed a seemingly impossible comeback, defeating the Bulls 102-98. It was the biggest second-half comeback in NBA history and the second biggest comeback overall. The Utah Jazz had a 36-point comeback against the Denver Nuggets on Nov. 27, 1996. Kings star rookie Tyreke Ev
