The Best Deal in Town continues to benefit local children’s charities The Active 20-30 Club of Greater Sacramento #1032, does great things to help the youth of Sacramento. Among the many projects undertaken are the annual Crab Feed (February) and Monte Carlo (September/October) events. Right now we’re gearing up for the Monte Carlo. It’s exciting that this year’s event is the 30th Anniversary of “The Best Deal In Town”!! We are asking supporters to take a chance and roll the dice - Monte Carlo Night on Saturday, September 17, 2011, from 7:30 p.m. to 11:30 p.m. at the California Automobile Museum, 2200 Front Street, in Old Sacramento. Although Saturday night was dedicated to the children, Monte Carlo 2010 hosted by the Active 20-30 Club of Greater Sacramento #1032 was a social party with no children permitted. The Active 20-30 club, a non-profit organization, consists of young women between the ages of 20 and 39 who volunteer and participate in events to assist special needs of children. This fundraising party was a 21+ event at Elks Tower Historic Ballroom, with Monte Carlo-style gaming, DJ entertainment, beer and wine. Blackjack, craps and roulette tables were crowded, as each attendee received $500 in chips to gamble. If you weren’t so lucky, you could buy more chips and exchange every $100 chip for a raffle ticket
Join the Active 20-30 Club of Greater Sacramento No. 1032 as it hosts its fundraising event, Monte Carlo 2010. The Active 20-30 club, a nonprofit organization, was founded in Sacramento in 1902, and the Greater Sacramento No. 1032 chapter has been helping children since 1940. Members actively participate in events that assist youth. This night will directly benefit two Sacramento charities, the Sixth Grade Science Alliance and Mustard Seed School. The Sixth Grade Science Alliance encourages and enables students to participate in science fairs and gain the skills in this field while they attend science camp. Giving was in the air Sunday night at Sophia’s Restaurant and bar, as the owners invited several underprivileged families to sit down to a free gourmet holiday meal. They also invited children of those families to buy gifts with “Sophia’s” funny money in a room filled with donated items sure to make any family member happy. The kids were ecstatic to get to shop for “free”. Jeremy Bennet, restaurant owner and organizer of the event invited his employees and members of the Active 20-30 Club of Greater Sacramento #1032 to help serve food and wrap gifts that were chosen by the children.
