  <subtitle>On a relaxed and breezy Tuesday evening in Alkali Flat, residents trickle in and out of J. Neely Johnson Park to check out the fresh produce on sale at their local Urban Farm Stand.

Just like a typical farmers market, the Urban Farm Stand opens up once a week to sell a variety of organic and conventionally grown fruits and vegetables from nearby suppliers. In fact, the Urban Farm Stand is just like a farmers market, but operates on a much smaller scale with just four tables.

1. Great article! although I have seen this farm stand pretty much every time it was open.. Iv never stopped. Mostly because I thought it was just the people who have that little fenced in garden in the park selling their stuff... 

2. I live like a block away from there at 11th and G and I had no idea that park "has been notorious for drug dealing"...</content>

    <content type="text">I think farm stands like this are such positive community unifiers. Not only does it promote local growing but infuses a social/community aspect into a process that grocery stores and bulk buying  have turned into a rather mundane one. I never knew about the urban farm stand, great coverage. makes me also want a pluot.</content>
