Great photos. It was a wild and crazy storm. As it passed over my house it felt like the world was coming to and end. Nature once again humbles us all :-)
I got some photos from my front yard in Roseville, but houses and trees blocked a lot of the lightning bolts. Great shots. According to KCRA, there were as many as 1,550 strikes in an hour while the storm was over Chico, and 1,400+ an hour while it was over Sacramento.
Even my dog was fascinated by it. He stared out the front window for an hour, wagging his tail.
I am so glad to read someone's views like mine....I
was alone and had never experienced anything like that in
my life. Is it a common happening here in Sacramento?

How quickly it moved made it even more intense. One moment the sky was clear, the next i'm seeing bright flashes outside my window with heavy rain lagging behind. I've never seen anything like it.
totally midwest style summer storm. Did anyone get photos of the storm over the city at 1:00 AM - it was really cool - a little scary but definitely cool.
I would also like to note that these were all posted pre-photoshop, hence the shadows in the lower-left corner.
Where were those pictures taken from?
