Conversation on The Sacramento Press about: San Francisco Mayor Newsom woos young voters with free concert

Let’s not mince words: political conventions are boring and a party convention is an oxymoron plain and simple. If you’ve been to one then you
know. Sure, the Democrats throw better parties than the Republicans. Hell, the new chairman of the Democratic Party, John Burton, is an admitted cocaine addict and known womanizer. But I digress.

For anybody who's been to a party convention, whether as a delegate, officer or volunteer, it's a fact that the highlight of a convention weekend is the dozen...

All food preferences are subjective. Some people like McDonalds and Taco Bell. As one who cooks pizza at home from scratch, I enjoy Luigi's in midtown just fine. Juicy, crispy crust with ample thickness and quality and ample toppings at a reasonable price. I am sure a lot of people are just fine with Dominoes or Pizza Butt. I, for one, don't eat fast food - it's like cheap vodka - it'll kill you.

I have two conclusions after reading this... first off, I am really surprised that I didn't hear anything about the concert. Even if the numbers were small, that still seems like a pretty big event to not get very much coverage. Second, I am really considering taking a trip to Luigi's (see comments above).

I think Newsom is all show, more so than most politicians. Once he figures out a real way to balance that $438 million deficit in SF, then I might be inclined to believe some of what he says. Furthermore, it would be nice if he would stop taking credit for rainy day reserves that were established well before his time, and stop claiming that the SF Unified school district being number #1 among the urban school districts in CA has anything to do with him... it was #1 when I was there in the 80-90s!

I can field that question. The Luigi's on Stockton is much better. I live in midtown only blocks away from Luigi's Slice, but I always drive out to the Stockton location for a fresh pie.

I have asked both establishments if they do anything differently and neither one thinks there is any difference in making the pizzas. Do a side by side comparison as I did and I think you will come to the same conclusion. I do definitely stop at Luigi's Slice for an occasional single slice though. Still great pizza.
