Theodor Geisel, better known as Dr. Seuss, spent his lifetime dreaming about different creatures and silly ways to name them. The Sacramento Public Library will honor Dr. Seuss’ 108th birthday by hosting numerous family-friendly programs at selected library locations in early March that include:

• Thursday, March 1 at 4 p.m., Arcade Library, 2443 Marconi Avenue, Sacramento: Listen to Dr. Seuss’ books, take the challenging Seuss quiz, play games related to your favorite Seuss characters, and, as at any birthday party, enjoy yummy treats and exciting prizes!
• Thursday, March 1 at 4 p.m., North Highlands-Antelope Library, 4235 Antelope Road, Antelope: Read and listen to favorite Seuss' stories such as The Cat in the Hat, Green Eggs and Ham, The Lorax and many others, as well as activities, prizes, and cake. Teen and parent volunteer readers are welcome.
• Friday, March 2 at 1 p.m., Elk Grove Library, 8900 Elk Grove Boulevard, Elk Grove: The afternoon festivities will be highlighted with a special appearance by NFL player and Elk Grove native Lance Briggs. Plus, there will be Read to a Dog, Scooter the Safety Dog, Dr. Seuss crafts, face painting and refreshments.
• Friday, March 2 at 4 p.m., Fair Oaks Library, 11601 Fair Oaks Boulevard, Fair Oaks: A Dr. Seuss birthday party with many fun activities.
• Friday, March 2 at 4 p.m., Ella K. McClatchy Library, 2112 22nd Street, Sacramento: Special guests will share beloved Dr. Seuss stories.
• Saturday, March 3 at 2 p.m., North Natomas Library, 4660 Via Ingoglia, Sacramento: Crafts and birthday cake to celebrate Dr. Seuss and your favorite Dr. Seuss books.
• Saturday, March 3 at 3 p.m., South Natomas Library, 2901 Truxel Road, Sacramento: Meet one of our favorite children's book authors and celebrate with cake, games, and crafts.
