A Sacramento businessman is searching for clues that will hopefully lead to the return of his tools after thieves broken into his Downtown studio overnight and made off with thousands of dollars worth of equipment.

Sometime between 6 p.m. Thursday night and 6 a.m. Friday morning, an unknown number of bandits cut a hole in the north side of the building that Reclamation Art + Furniture uses as its studio. Once inside, the burglars grabbed the table saw, nail guns, angle grinders, and other small construction tools that the business owner, Steven Tiller, uses to craft his beautiful and one-of-a-kind functional furniture pieces, mostly out of old and discarded materials.

Tiller is hopeful that someone with information about where the tools are now will hear about this story and do the right thing. Anybody who may be able to shed any light on this case is asked to call the Sacramento Police Department and refer to case #12-4950, or to contact Tiller directly.

Aw, man! This makes me sad... and angry... and frustrated. Tiller is a craftsman – nay, an artist. It's a shame that opportunistic thieves stole from him, probably just to fence the tools and make a quick buck. Meanwhile, Tiller cannot continue to create his artful pieces. I hope someone out there sends a good lead to the police.

Terrible news! So sorry to hear this. His studio is a fine example of repurposing materials in a beautiful and creative way. I sure hope the bandit is found, so that the others in that complex can be spared future break-ins.

When someone pinched my new drill- I couldn't mount my spice rack. When someone takes the paintbrush from the painter, their soul is diminished. The heartening thing is to see his colleagues are pulling for him. We have a strong and close-knit community of creatives, and Steve will keep working.
