Right now Sacramento is full of "Kodak moments." This afternoon I stalked Downtown and Midtown for those moments. There was something around every corner.

When people ask where to see "fall color" in Sacramento, I generally recommend Land Park/Curtis Park or East Sacramento. The more dramatic trees are Eastern varieties that were planted in cities as shade trees, while our native trees in the foothills just tend to turn brown in fall--a less impressive "show" than their eastern relatives.

Not a thing wrong with color in midtown/downtown trees!

I guess you haven't seen the beautiful native trees I see...redbud, willow, cottonwood, alder...California has its own beauty.

I've spent my autumn the last four years at UC Santa Cruz, and while the campus is a beautiful sight in itself, the redwoods surrounding it hardly gave off a sight as Sacramento does in the fall. I am finally welcoming the colors of autumn back into my life. Beautiful pictures Kati!
