On every second friday of the month the small city of Davis, home to one of the most prestigious colleges in the state, is taking a great idea from Sacramento's "Second Saturday" and is spinning it there own way. Instead of music and art inside bars, resteraunts, cafe's, and art galleries like Sacramento does, Davis does it like a small town and puts the music outside at the E. St. Plaza and Central Park. The art is contained to one art Gallery named "John Natsoulas Center For the Arts".

In the Central Park they had a group of local DJ's spinning up and having a ball, while the E. St. Plaza had what sounded like a mariachi band but they were all white.

"It is great to know that you live in a town that wants to spend its second friday night together as a community." says Charles Gibson a UCD Student "It also gets my creative juices running"

Some Second Saturday super serious supporters might think of Davis as a parot of Sacramento's good ideas. Davis might be the first small town to have such a strong art following that they have there own art walk and you could have an art filled weekendsince Davis is only 15 miles away from Sacramento and vice versa

Disclosure: i went to the show but am not affiliated at all

The Second Friday Davis Art About is not a new thing, and I doubt it was an idea stolen directly from Sacramento -- tons of cities do monthly arts walks. And the art is most definitely not "contained to one art gallery." There are 25 cafes, restaurants, museums, boutiques and salons that participated in this month's activities, showing art and music inside and out.

Are white people not allowed to play mariachi music?

NOBODY should be allowed to play Mariachi music, (or Zydeco for that matter). Davis eh? I think I've heard of that place.
