It's halloween. And this new storyline is about news taking place 6 blocks from my house. And about 6 blocks from my house is something rather pertinent on this particular holiday.

A stroll through Evangiline's in Old Sacramento today leaves no doubt that the holiday is as popular as ever and in full swing.

But there's the commercial Halloween that most of us have come to view as the holiday and then there are those that look beyond the candy and the costumes for something more sinister. And while personally I am not a fan of the occult, strolling passed the house at 22nd and H Street, might give anyone a chill.

In the middle of the day, at dusk or the middle of the night, the house demands your attention. The wrought iron fence, the dead and dying lawn and the stone around the base of the house seems straight out of a horror movie.

Notice in the pictures above, that one light is on and one is off. Notice all the dirt on the outside of the house, but also note that the house is in really good shape despite the grime.

The house dominates the intersection. It's stately and spooky at the same time.

With many Victorian homes near it having been turned into multiple family homes this one stands proudly as a vacant giant built for one family but inhabited by no one.

If you don't have plans on this lovely crisp evening, I would highly suggest you drive by this interesting home. See if you get a shiver down your spine.

Ever been? Know the house? Have any ghost stories to share about it? Comment in the conversation below and check back for updates as I report more about the house and its history.

Happy Halloween!

I went to this house on Friday the 13th in June - as we were driving by - another car was doing the exact same thing. The people in the other car shared some gossip about the house - that no one currently lives there - but that the neighbors hear music and noises from the house.
It seems like there are always people visiting the house - happy to just gawk at it and wonder what it's like on the inside.
I always get scared when I get near it.
I wonder if there were any happenings on Halloween?
It's definitely a landmark in Downtown Sacramento. I hope it stays that way.

We envy the house for its creepiness. It's just blocks from our own haunted house, but ours is occupied and open for treaters from Friday October 23, 2009 through Halloween, except Monday and Tuesday. Corner of 25th and I streets, free, but accepting donations to benefit "Sunburst Projects.org"

Sorry for the shameless plug, but we are hoping for a large attendance...it's our 4th year putting on a show at "Maines Mansion". Hope you can make it...we would love some press...stop by sometime and chat with the owner for more info.

This is the first time I am going public with my experience taking pictures outside the house in Dec. 09. It is haunted I have proof . I went to the house one early morning on a cold damp day. I took quick random shots fearing the neighbors would call the cops. After every picture I took I looked at the result. The second shot showed a poof of smoke like a circular mist. When I developed it at Walgreens it is plain it is a ghost with five orbs in or around it. You can plainly see a torso and a head with eyes and a nose. Simple as that . It is hovering by the porch and staring at me. Also I have two ghosts looking out the right front window, one appears to be a girl dressed in victorian clothes the other a young boy peeking thru the side of the drapes. I have shown these pics to many people and they mostly agree there spirits. The house is haunted no matter what the owner say's. I am preparing to put the pics online and they will shock everyone. ask me any question I will answer asap.
