The Oak Park Neighborhood Association's next meeting (April 2, 5:30, Oak Park Community Center, 3425 MLK Jr. Blvd) will include a presentation by Brian Holloway and other DOC and City Staff discussing the proposal to eliminate the Design Review Commission.

We are inviting other Neighborhood Associations, groups and communities to attend as to get a good cross section of our community as a whole and to document the response. The idea is to bring this back to the city council, showing the public outcry for the entire Design Review process.

Our objective is that we get as much of the surrounding communities to show up as possible and to ensure that our response is not misrepresented by either city staff or DOC members when they return to council with their report.

The meeting will be on April 2 at 5:30 pm, Oak Park Community Center, 3425 MLK Jr. Blvd.

Thanks very much for the invite. While I'm unable to attend due a conflict, I have emailed several; folk from different associations to attend. I hope that they are able to do so.

I hope so too, I think the more neighborhood representatives the better. Organizers plan to record the conversation so it's absolute clear as to the neighborhoods position regarding the proposal brought forth by the DOC and later presented to Council. This is an issue that could severely impact the way our city looks and feels.

Also, I apologize for the low quality picture at the top of the article. I'm not sure how to go back and change it.
