This Wednesday April Fools Day, SBL Entertainment and Marilyn’s on K will be presenting a wonderful and special evening of music. The Waybacks will be playing a rare club gig, which is almost sure to provide a great time for all who choose to attend. To categorize the Waybacks is tough, their unique sound is cross-genre as well as cross- generational. While surely not for everyone, (the Metal or Hip Hop crowd may not put this on their must see list), most others would & should. Fans of Americana, Jam Band, Folk, Country (Real Country), Rock-n-Roll, Swing, New Orleans Jazz, Jazz Jazz, Blues, Bluegrass, Funk and / or a few other styles will want to attend.

The Waybacks are a 4 piece band that comes together and translates multiple influences into a musical stew, that satisfies the most finicky tastes. True to their roots, no 2 shows are the same, on any given night, one might hear a blend of originals pulled from one of their many albums, or perhaps songs in the working, side by side with of The Grateful Dead, or later Led Zeppelin, and when you least expect it a sweet ballad that harkens back to a 1940’s Swing, all done with stand-up bass, fiddle (or mandolin), acoustic (or electric) guitar & drums, in a way that is unique to the Waybacks, again this must be seen and heard to truly understand.

I encourage folks to Google the Waybacks, or perhaps visit their web site www.waybacks.com to learn more. Better yet, surf on over to www.archive.org and check out the live music archives (The Woodside show is great), or how about youtube!. But I really recommend digging into the wallet & supporting local music at Marilyn’s www.marilynsonk.com come and enjoy some good company, good drink & some great music.!! See you there, in the mean time….

Keep Smilin’!
