The Sacramento Artists Council, Inc., hosts its second annual Art Happens-a day of music,art food and fun- from 11 a.m. - 9 p.m. Saturday at the Sacramento Art Complex/Gallery 2110, 2110 K Street.

Beautiful paintings and sculpture, a gooey, glitter-filled art experience area for the young and young at heart, fabulous music, good food and excellent tastes from local wineries and brewers will spark the atmosphere with happy, creative energy. Art Happens 2011 will be an all-sensory experience with art that one can see, hear, taste and feel.

This year’s Art Happens creates an exciting music lineup mixed with SNR 2011 JAMMIES winners and veteran local musicians with headliners Musical Charis. In addition, Sacramento Arts Council, Inc., is also helping provide additional support for school art programs. Sutter Middle and Nevada Union High School students will be exhibiting and selling student artwork. One hundred percent of the student artwork sales will be paid to the school art programs.

“Our vision is to create venues to support new artists/musicians as well as support established
artists and musicians while getting local businesses, wineries and brewers involved with the
community,” said Susan Rabinovitz, executive director of the council. “This event is to raise money for art related scholarships, grants and assist artists and musicians to exhibit and sell their product.”

Art happen tickets are are also available at the door for $10 each. Kids15 years and under are free.

With the support of local sponsors,most of the generated funds will go toward grants, scholarships and school artwork exhibits.
