This week is filled with laughter, song and dance! Not to mention a handful of highly successful people to spend your time with. Whether you're looking to get out and be active or just sit back and enjoy the show, this week in Sacramento there is an event that is likely to peak your interest. Depending on your interests, you may not even have to bring your wallet to do something different!

Week 12: March 24-30

Tuesday: 4th Tuesday Films

Every fourth Tuesday of the month a film is featured which addresses peace, justice, and sustainability in the world or how it can be threatened. This weeks feature film is White Light, Black Rain: The Destruction of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, where filmmaker Steven Okazaki revisits the bombings and shares the stories of the only people to have survived a nuclear attack.

Location: 909 12th Street. Cost: Free. Time: 7:00pm. Info: (916) 448-7157. Web: http://www.sacpeace.org/

Wednesday: Get Motivated! Business Seminar

Let's face it- we all need a little motivation here and there. What better place to do it than a seminar featuring 7 highly motivated and successful people? Who might you ask are the guests? Maybe one of these folks will encourage you to check out the show: Zig Ziglar, Michael Phelps, Tamara Lowe, Gen. Colin Powell, Dr. Earl Mindell, Rudolph Giuliani, & Steve Forbes will all be there live, in person, to share with you their recipe for success. As quoted from their website:  "The GET MOTIVATED Seminar is world famous for its energizing, action-packed, star-studded, fun-filled, spectacular stage show. CNN, 60 Minutes, USA Today, TIME, PEOPLE, The New York Times and The Wall Street Journal all rave about it! This motivational mega-show packs more inspirational firepower than a stick of dynamite!" There are apparently some major prizes given away too- Sounds like motivation enough for me!

Location: Arco Arena Cost: $69/indiv, $299/group. Time: 8:00am-4:45pm. Info: (800) 610-7931. Web: http://getmotivated.com

Thursday: Open Mic Night

Come down for the brand new open mic night at the Capitol Garage! Enjoy some of Sac's newest artists to hit the stage and $1 off draught beers all night long. Favorite acts may receive a chance to open for upcoming Capitol Garage shows!

Location: 1500 K Street. Cost: $5. Time: 9:00pm. Info: (916) 444-3633. Web: http://www.capitolgarage.com

Friday: Laugh it up with Comedy Sportz

This is a great night out for the whole family. If you think that clean comedy is just for kids, you need to check out Comedy Sportz. This is an improv comedy show where the actors or  "act-letes" actually play out skits as if it were a sport! The "act-letes" compete for audience laughs and points while improvising scenes, games, and musicals based on audience suggestions. There is a referee who calls fouls and keeps the participants scrambling. Audience participation is encouraged and highly entertaining. The winners are determined by the votes of the audience. This is a sport for anyone to enjoy! Comedy Sportz has shows every Friday & Saturday night.

Location: 2230 Arden Way. Cost: $12/10/8. Time: 8:00pm. Info: (916) 444-3633. Web: http://www.comedysportzsacramento.com

Saturday: Sacramento International Film Festival Continues!

The 2009 official premier was last Sunday at the Crest Theatre. Saturday the festival moves to the Artisan theater () with several films including The Prince of Broadway which won the grand jury prize at the Los Angeles Film Festival. This touching film centers on a West African street hustler named Lucky, whose world is turned upside down when a baby is thrust into his arms as his son. Written and directed by Sean Baker (Greg The Bunny, Take Out) Prince of Broadway is hailed by The Hollywood Reporter as “The Genuine Article”.

Location: 1901 Del Paso blvd. Cost: $8-$10. Time: Showings from 11:00am-8:30pm. Info: (916) 648-0268. Web: http://saciff.bside.com

Sunday: Burlesque Fusion Dance Classes

Ladies, it's time to get out and find your inner vixen! The Sizzling Sirens are Sacramento's hottest Burlesque Dancers. This class is designed to teach you their method of celebrating sexuality and excuding self confidence! This class is designed for beginners so don't be shy if you aren't much of a dancer. If anything you'll get a great workout and have a great time! Do note that this class is for women only.

Location: Firehouse 5 (9th & T St). Cost: $15/class. Time: 1:00-2:00pm. Info: n/a. Web: http://www.sizzlingsirensburlesque.com/

Monday: Lil' Wayne with T-Pain Concert

Apparently Lil' Wayne is not just a rapper anymore. He performed at the 2008 Country Music Awards with Kid Rock and is expected to release a rock album in April of this year. Aka Dwayne Michael Carter, Jr., Lil' Wayne is making quite a name for himself. Not sure what exactly is to be expected from him this show... Opening for Lil' Wayne and T-Pain (rhyming with reason?) are Gym Class Heroes, a rap-rock fusion band and Keri Hilson, a new R&B singer debuting her solo album In a Perfect World. This is sure to be an entertaining event.

Location: Arco Arena. Cost: $37.25-$77.25. Time: 8:00pm. Info: 916-928-6900. Web: http://www.arcoarena.com/

This is very eye-opening! I never knew Sacramento had this much to offer and I am not spending a fortune to have fun. If I don't have something to do on any given night I now know that I can check here and there will be something! This is great information, thanks.
