Join us Sunday, January 30, 2011 from 2-4pm. In the spirit of Dr. King’s vision for a more engaged community the Black United Fund of Sacramento Valley (BUFSV) and the Sacramento Area Black Caucus (SABC) presents a Day of Service in commemoration of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy.

Join the Black United Fund of Sacramento Valley (BUFSV) and the Sacramento Area Black Caucus (SABC) for a Day of Service in commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s legacy. The community is invited to attend and participate in this year’s Day of Service to prepare personal kits (for items collected during the 2010 Kwanzaa Celebration), to be delivered to three programs serving homeless individuals and families.

Community volunteers are needed to sort items, label and package items for the personal kits on Sunday, January 30 from 2-4pm at the Black United Fund of Sacramento Valley’s (BUFSV) Office, 4104 Forty-Fourth Street, Sacramento, CA 95820.

We are still accepting items for the personal kits: please bring new, unused personal items such as: travel size items: toothpaste, lotion, soap, toothbrush, socks, and gloves for an adult or child. Thank you.

Refreshments will be served. To volunteer or for more info please contact Faye Kennedy at fayek@springmail.com or call (916) 484-5025.

I think giving back is very important...and what better way to volunteer one's time or donate supplies to help this worthy cause. Thank you for this information! I will be calling you so I can donate supplies. Hopefully others will follow :)
