Amidst the first big storm of the season, a group of art lovers gathered at a cozy Sacramento home Saturday night for a private first showing of artist Ted Weldon's latest collection. Wine glasses clanked, and people chattered into the night whilst The Doors played richly on an old record player. Although the art party was thrown in a residential setting, the home is not your typical family dwelling experience. Lining every wall were the lit displays of an astonishing twenty-nine-piece collection of Weldon's unique take on impressionistic art. The line features inspirations from several Northern California areas, including Point Reyes and the Tahoe Basin, places the artist visited multiple times throughout the summer. Weldon confined himself to a half-inch brush on the scenic paintings to avoid a realistic interpretation. Further, the sketches include techniques with blurring and using negative space, which convey Weldon’s very personal feeling of the landscapes. The private showing was received very well amongst the guests. Smiling faces left late in the night, having spent wonderful hours deciding which pieces to bring into their own homes.
There are pieces from the line still available, please contact the artist for further information.
