C&E Auburn V-Twin, Incorporated played host to the biggest motorcycle ever event seen in Auburn as the community showed up en mass to support the grand opening. The family owned-motorcycle shop was one of seven businesses burned to the ground in the August 2009 49er fire.

As far as the eye could see, motorcycles of every make and model lined both sides of Shale Ridge Lane and wrapped completely around the new building. An estimated 1,200-plus motorcycle enthusiast joined the celebration.

Owners Carlo and Emma Lujan provided a complimentary catered lunch of barbecued tri-tip. Two local bands rocked out the back acre lot of the business. Bonneville land-speed record celebrity Chris Carr was there to show off his winning Stream-Liner. Also featured was Bob Grimes with his award-winning drag bike. Both KOVR 13 and FOX 40 will provide a new perspective to viewers for what it’s like to be on a motorcycle as they both recorded footage for their local evening news while riding on the back of a Harley.

"I have seen support of different businesses over my lifetime, but this is unbelievable," local teacher Carrie Weston said. "It was important for my family to be here because seeing C&E rebuild from nothing is an inspirational story of the ability to pick up the pieces and do something great. Out of adversity came a community camaraderie and a proof positive that you can achieve anything you put your mind to."

The new location, just mere blocks from the devastation of the old shop, is on one full acre and features 10,000 square feet of motorcycle heaven and an additional 3,000 square feet for future expansion. The showroom has a fully equipped Harley-Davidson parts department. The clothing and accessories section highlights some of the most fashionable "biker wear" in the area. Plus, there is a fully equipped service department and machine shop. “Mild to Wild” tune-ups, customizing options, upgrades and engine rebuilds are just a few of the services available.

"With the spirit of giving back to the community, Carlo and Emma are always involved in doing something good," local biker Crutch Yates said. "Over the years they have sponsored the Gold Country Toy Run 14 times. They promote the CHP Andy Stevens Memorial Ride and the Welcome Home Vets Project. If they endorse or are involved with a project, I always want to be a part of it too."

On Dec. 5, C&E Auburn V-twin will host the 15th Annual Gold Country Toy Run, with all toys starting in Placer County to benefit the Family Services agency. The Toy Run will kick off at 9 a.m. from Auburn Recreation District. For more information call C&E at (530) 885-5556.
