Maceration. Diamond filtration. Aperitifs. Vodka so good it rolls off your tongue in waves after it hits the nose and makes its way down to accompany the blinis and crème fraiche Sterling caviar sampled prior.

After a couple of "tastes" of Belvedere, The Jewel of Russia and Dan Aykroyd's unique Crystal Head Vodka, it becomes apparent that this event and location were meant for each other.

Lounge on 20 is no club, and there is no ordinary vodka on the menu for the evening. This anti-club is as sophisticated and sexy as the grownup hors d'oeuvres and libations circling around the intimately woven crowd. Best of all, there is room to breath. And if the generous interior isn't enough, there's always the outside patio and several semi-private rooms.

The Vodka and Caviar tasting event, a fundraiser with the intention of bringing an awareness of classical music to younger generations, featured a performance by Sacramento Philharmonic Orchestra violinist Mikhail Simonyan. The spacious lounge, also offering up an impressive menu, looks like it's been transplanted from “Nip/Tuck”'s Miami scene and conveniently placed in the heart of Midtown.

The status level you feel at Lounge relates to a classy resort location. One of Lounge on 20's owners, Ali Mackani, expressed his need for an elegant, no-fuss space.

"How many times can you go into a club and hear the same music over and over, and it's like, haven't we all grown up?" he asked.

Indeed we are, and Lounge on 20 reminds us of the simple pleasures and advantages of having refined taste and an adventurous palate. So if you weren't able to make this event, no worries. Stop by for Lounge's “True Blood”-themed Hallow's Eve Feast featuring True Blood cocktails and possibly even an encounter with the vampire of your dreams.
