The second annual Wanderlust Festival took place this weekend at Squaw Valley in Lake Tahoe. Wanderlust is a one-of-a-kind festival bringing together the world's best yoga teachers and best performers in rock & roll, all in a setting of breathtaking natural beauty. It is a place to relax, unwind, bend, dance, revel, and contemplate. This year's festival offered expanded yoga offerings, more great music, a complement of organic foods and biodynamic wines, and the same incredible scenery and community that made last year’s event such a hit.
Wanderlust showcases a range of teachers, classes and styles that inspire and challenge all practitioners, from the curious beginner to longtime students. This year’s yoga line-up featured some of the most notable names in yoga, including Shiva Rea, Seane Corn, Baron Baptiste, Doug Swenson, Duncan Wong, Elena Brower and Schuyler Grant.
The music at Wanderlust is a soundtrack for the weekend, featuring both music to flow to and music to dance to. Leading the charge this year were Moby, Bassnectar, Brazilian Girls and Pretty Lights. Artists who also performed over the weekend were Yard Dogs Road Show, Beats Antique, Rupa & The April Fishes, Ana Sia, MC Yogi, Orgone, Princess Superstar, Dave Stringer, DJ Dragonfly, The Mayapuris, Shaman’s Dream, Rara Avis, John Shannon, and many more.
"The first yoga class I took was in '98 in Berlin and I have kind of been taking yoga since then," said festival goer Masha from Oregon. "It's my religion in a way -- and live music is my other religion. So it's the perfect festival!"
