This Saturday, July 24, Athletes vs Cancer (AVC) will hold the annual community event to support research, create awareness, provide screening opportunities and deliver subsequent support to cancer patients. Founded in 2009 by Matt Barnes in memory of his mother, the Foundation has expanded to recruit additional athletes and coaches touched by cancer. It’s primary focus in 2010 is to secure a mobile cancer screening van. The vehicle will visit low-income neighborhoods providing free cancer screenings, awareness and resources from AVC and its partner organizations.

This awareness-raising celebrity golf invitational takes place Saturday, July 24 at the lovely Woodcreek Golf Course in Roseville.

AVC has partnered with The Sacramento Press and Deal Ticket, a daily deal group buying site for the Sacramento region, to give one lucky person the chance to caddie for AVC host and former-Del Campo High School student Matt Barnes. The lucky winner will get one-on-one strategy time for 18 holes with the NBA star and much more.

This prize package includes:

All entries must be time stamped by 1:00 pm PST, Friday July 23, 2010. The Top 3 finalists will be chosen by myself and Casey Kirk at The Sacramento Press, then the final winner will be chosen by Matt Barnes himself. Please include your phone number.

Rules: Winner must arrive to Woodcreek by 9:30 AM on Sat 7/24/10.  Winner must be 18 years or older. Prize cannot be transferred or sold. Winner must be in good physical health and able to be on the golf course and/or in the outside weather conditions for more than five hours. Winner must abide by golf etiquette. All entrants agree to receive a Deal Ticket via email. We will not share your email or information with any outside parties for any reason.
