VERY SPECIAL ARTS DAY at Fairytale Town

Performances, Visual Art Shows, and Funshops were featured at VERY SPECIAL ARTS DAY on Saturday at Fairytale Land.It was Hosted by VSA California at Fairytale Town. Very Special Arts Day brought together children of all abilities-those with disabilities and those without-to interact  through, create, and enjoy the Arts.
 
The highlight was performances by ACT ON!-a children's Theatre Camp (project of VSA arts and Fairytale Town).

Visual arts creations by Very Special Arts students in the Sacramento VSA I Can Do THAT! program were on display.

Playing in The Battle for Planet Dojo are Nice-Zilla, Maeve Castleberry; Sinister Zilla, Alexi Zachariou-Remp; Dragon 1, Bella Zachariou-Remp and Dragon 2, Bella Hopkins.

The Battle for Planet Dojo Ninjas are Michael Donnelly, Jake Leatherman, Jacob Corder, Maya Diaz-Villalta and Gordon Felesina.
 

Several Funshops (hands-on workshops in the Arts) were offered-including hands of wisdom, flying saucers, rhymba shakers, pipe cleaner jewelry, and spiral mobiles.  

  Malachi and Caleb (below) Vigallon tried their hands at spin art with the help of mom.


 
Over 300 children of all abilities interacted during Very Special Arts Day.
 
Children with disabilities plus one escort were admitted free to Very Special Arts Day. These events are sponsored by Active 20-30 Club #1 of Sacramento, the Rivercats Foundation, Sutterville Heights Optimists, and National VSA arts.  
 
VSA California and Very Special Arts Sacramento showcase the talents and capabilities of children of all abilities.  Professional artists work with young people to create high-quality artistic productions such as ceramics, musical shows, hip-hop dances, paintings, video productions, and puppet shows. These performances and visual art shows are then presented to the Sacramento community at galleries, theatres, festivals, and special events. The program is supported through grants, special events, and donations from businesses and corporations.
