Celebrate America at Twin Oaks Park in Rocklin was a very well attended event. An audience of 10,000 was anticipated on this their second year. Sunset Christian Center in collaboration with the City of Rocklin put this family affair together. Last year attendance was around 6,000 and the hot weather kept it from being larger. Mark Brenet, a member of Sunset Christian Center, volunteered as staff security and provided me with some background information on the event. Mark and his family are recent residents of Rocklin and indicated he enjoys the community and would like to make this city his home. As with many people in this fast growing area he enjoys the Sacramento area and has found a Christian community that he can belong to.
As far as entertainment went there were things to do and see for the young and old. This weekend in many areas kicks off the start of the 4th of July celebration and this event was put on with that theme in mind. Representatives from all areas of the military were present. Twin Oaks Park of Rocklin was the home for this event and it was large enough to accommodate thousands of people and vehicles. During the day one of the announcers pointed out that a vehicle was illegally parked at the event and needed to be moved. Eventually that vehicle, a Blackhawk helicopter, was finally moved and flew over the crowd a couple of times to thrill the spectators.
Voice Training Studio, run by Daniel Hayes and Kyle Martin, provided some of its star pupils who sang several songs. Morgan Leffel, Cassie Nutter, Alicia Paulson, Kristen Brown, and Gabby Newman showed off their singing skills. Fusion Elite provided various martial arts demonstrations. Displaying their dance routines the Dance Elite Allstars acts were introduced by Faith Gardner. Dancers as young as kindergarten thru second grade and up to High School performed for the growing audience. A magician, the Celebrate Choir, and many other acts entertained for hours.
Recording Artist Natalie Grant was the singing headliner and was also scheduled to lead Worship Service Sunday, June 27th at 9 and 10:45 a.m. Entertainment did not stop until the show was over and those in attendance seemed to thoroughly enjoy the event. Next year’s event has already been scheduled for Saturday, June 25, 2011.

WOW what a great show. This needs to be incorporated into every city across this great country of ours. To celebrate America is a long awaited event where I believe every veteran is proud of. Some came home to nothing, some came home to ridicule, some came home with emotional scars they still live with today. Knowing they went over there and fought for the rights of everyone here in this great nation is finally the most honorable thing for them. To have the rest of the country celebrating and honoring the country they fought for and some had to die for is truly and honorable thing.
The firework show was one of the best I have ever scene. The vendors were top notch, plenty of things for the kids to stay occupied, an unbelievable helicopter exit, over 10,000 people together celebrating, Songs and Hymns from our great country, and a short message of hope. How much better can it get?
I will never miss another one and I will be glad to help promote next year’s event for sure…June 25 2011. Don’t miss it…..GOD BLESSED AMERICA AND WE SHOULD BE FOREVER HUMBLE AND BLESSED WE LIVE IN THE GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD…….AMEN!!!!!!!
