The AT&T building located on 15th and J has recently become more aesthetically pleasing.

As I passed the, usually quite drab, AT&T building that has no windows, I noticed that it now has artistic pictures that are pleasing to the eye. All the photographs are in black and white and surround the entire building.

While examining the pictures, I spoke with an employee of AT&T who informed me that the photographs were all taken within the three-block radius. Most were taken right in front of the Sacramento Memorial Auditorium.

Not only is the AT&T building becoming more vibrant, but they too are community contributors.

Now my only question is, can anyone name the events that the photographs are of?

They are Sacramento Valley photos from the late 1800s and early 1900s showing phone company linemen and operators at work. The Memorial Auditorium pictures include a prize fight, a circus and a 1928 performance of The Messiah. It was only a $200,000 project for 22 photos.

Bob Shallit covered this a couple of weeks ago: http://www.sacbee.com/shallit/story/1556985.html Apparently, we should be getting captions added to the pictures soon enough, so we won't have to rely on the captions written on the original photos.

I love the improvements to the building. They almost make up for the lack of windows.

Sarah, just yesterday they placed descriptive plaques next to each picture. Sorry i wasnt able to give my name when you called, but that is company policy.
