Vote for Community Vote for Patrick and Ray!

Sacramento City Council 2010

Hi I am the Big Education Ape-A. P.arent E.ngaged. I am also known as Mike Simpson. I have been a Sacramento area resident since 1982. I have had the good fortune to live, work and to be a part of this wonderful community. I think it is called being blessed. In my years in this community I have had the honor of working with some of the most excellent leaders in government, education and the private sector.

I have the special privilege to call two of these excellent leaders, Ray Tretheway and Patrick Kennedy, my friend.

I worked for Ray Tretheway at the Sacramento Tree Foundation. It was Ray that taught me how to love the community I live in, Ray taught me to “get involved, participate, and make the community better”.  If you love our City of Trees you can thank Ray (and SMUD).

I got to know Patrick Kennedy when he was running for School Board Member for Area 7. My wife Vicki Simpson was running for Area 3 and thankfully lost to our super Area 3 School Board Member Donald Terry. If there was a theme for this election, it was Community and Parent Engagement and it became the litmus test. Patrick Kennedy got an A+ on the test. I have got to know Patrick as a proud Dad, bragging on our kid’s successes and as a School Board Member working hard to improve public education in our community. Patrick is the Sacramento version of the Energizer Bunny; he keeps on and keeps on finding new ways to serve the Sacramento Community.

Do me and the Community a favor:  Vote for Ray and Patrick. We need them both.

I live in District 5 (Patrick Kennedy's race) and hoped to learn from your remarks. However, you gave scant reason form me to make a choice. You piece reads like campaign literature.
So, he is a good and active dad; okay but does that make him the best choice for City Council?
Have you looked carefully at the other candidates while asking, who would be best for the District?

Mr Boyd,
Yes I did ask who would be best for the District?, but I was trying to be more positive.
I know both of these guys and I know how hard they work in the Sacramento Community for improvement of our city. They listen to the community, to other leaders in the community, I know this for a fact, I have seen it with my own two eyes. So yes I am enthusiastic about their service to our community. I hope my opinion makes a difference, I think it is important that everyone Vote for Patrick and Ray! .

Mr. Simpson,
I am not clear what you mean in your first sentence "Yes I did ask who would be best for the District?, but I was trying to be more positive." Why wouldn't answering the question directly be positive?

Also, many of the candidates "listen to the community, to other leaders in the community"; so we all need more information than that to make our choices.
The larger question is what makes a person the best choice for an office. What makes one qualified, for example, to be a City Council member? Listening is certainly important but not sufficient. So, again, I ask, "where's the beef?".

Excellent questions, Michael.

It's one thing to be enthusiastic because you know and like a candidate; it's entirely another to step back and ask who would serve the community best.

Mike -- You are long on enthusiasm, but short on persuasion. I respect your opinion, but I agree that your piece reads like campaign material.

Both are completly owned and controlled by unions and developers.

Neither represent the needs of citizens who live in the respective districts.

No Thanks.

I am sorry that I am not more persuasive. I said I wanted to be positive, I meant that I did not want to say negative things to support my opinion. I wanted to say is that I believe strongly in community engagement. I believe that you have to reach out to the community, all of the community. I have watched Patrick and Ray reach out to the community, all of the community and listen. And then make the hard decisions. That is the kind of person that I want leading our city, our community. I believe Patrick Kennedy and Ray Tretheway are the guys.

You are DILUSIONAL if you actually believe that Ray Tretheway listens to the community.

Let me tell you what the community can expect from Tretheway..bedsides being sold out to developers.

I have a neighbor with a rooster that crows every morning at 4-5 AM. (I've named him Ray) Roosters are illegal. I went through all the required steps to complain...ALL OF THEM then called Tretheway. He came to my house even... and basically said " I hear you..I can tell that the rooster is bothering you.." Then NOTHING.... so after 2 1/2 years of complaining THE CITY and Ray refuse to do ANYTHING. Where do you live Mike? Let me release some roosters next to your house and see how that affects your quality of life.

I have a neighbor who runs an auto dealership out of his house... I don’t mean selling a couple of cars a month... I mean he has 8-10 cars on his property..in his driveway with signs...24/7 365 days a year. He uses his back yard to store 4-6 of them as well. THIS IS ILLEGAL - and after 2 1/2 years of complaining, all to the right departments...all the way to the top in every department ... guess what has been done? NOTHING... Take ONE GUESS at who's campaign sign is in the front yard of this illegal auto dealer?? Yeah thats right Ray Tretheway..hmm I wonder if he has contributed to Ray.

There is an illegal fruit stand on the corner by my house..it has been there for TWO FRIGGEN YEARS... ON PRIVATE PROPERTY that is not theirs.. Guess what the CIty does? NOTHING WHY? Ray wants Excramento to be a sactuary city, and he believes that enforcing laws against illegal vendors is a hardship on illegal aliens...yeah...thats right...he wants to protect the illegal aliens ability to lower my property values. WHAT A MORON! Lower property values decreases the tax base for the CIty and coumpounds the deficit.

My neighborhood is being turned into a ghetto BY THE CITY and Ray RAY.

I have DOZENS of other stories like this... and don’t get me started on how he sold out North Natomas... yeah he’s quite the listener..

Or perhaps you meant some other kind of listening. PLEASE FEEL FREE TO EXPLAIN HOW HE LISTENS! PLEASE I AM DYING TO HEAR THIS!

Ray Ray cant do anything about quality of life in his district, but he and and the other morons on the council want to boycott Arizona while Sacrameto simmers is the stew of crap prepared by our City Council....soon to be officially renamed Excrameto if Ray Ray gets re-elected.

Kennedy is a Union shill, running ONLY to represent union desires... that is the LAST THING that tax payers need right now, this City is broke enough.

Both of them need to GO AWAY

You obviously have something to gain by supporting them, because no one in their right mind who lives in this community would support these parasites.

"You are DI-LUSIONAL'.... interesting phrase and spelling coming from an Ashby camp braintrust ... kinda reminds me of a Cal Worthington commercial with Ashby as his dog, 'spot'....
