On the heels of Mayor Kevin Johnson’s proposed green initiative to establish Sacramento as a leader in the green economy, local young professionals group Metro EDGE is taking action to educate the region’s new generation of leaders about the sustainability practices of local businesses and how they can collectively help make Sacramento a cleaner, greener place.
The “EDGE Insight: Green Companies” event, on Thursday, May 27 from 5:30 – 8:00 p.m., at 2600 Capitol - the first LEED Gold Certified private sector office building in Midtown Sacramento - will bring together featured speakers from local, environmentally conscious companies to discuss ways they integrate sustainability practices into their businesses.
After the presentations, attendees are encouraged to carry on the conversation and meet other local businesses by stopping by their booths to learn about the unique and relevant actions they are taking to create a sustainable Sacramento.
Open to the public, EDGE Insight tickets are $20 for Metro EDGE members and $40 for nonmembers. Tickets can be purchased at www.metro-edge.org.
EDGE Insight events are bi-annual, high-profile events uniquely focused on cutting edge topics relevant to local young professionals interested in shaping the Sacramento region. Other regular Metro EDGE events include EDGEucational Forums, EDGEwise Workshops, Hands-On Regional Action Events and Project Inspire. For more information and a full calendar listing, visit the Metro EDGE website events page.
Surely this group has nothing to do with Johnson's whatever, for green building efforts long predate anything he's done, especially since he ridiculed Heather Fargo for doing so during her terms in office...
Let's just set records straight, and not try to tie them to mayor fop all the time....
