Compliment Booth to open in Sacramento, Second Saturday, May 8th, 2010.

PRESS RELEASE. Please note: this is not a journalistic article, but rather a shameless promotion. However, reading on may serve you very well.

Revelers of the popular Second Saturday Art Walk will have the chance to stop by Sacramento’s first ever Compliment Booth and receive a little boost of self-esteem this coming Saturday.

It’s all part of an original idea by local resident and artist, Anthonie Maldonado - who along with the Compliment Booth’s co-creators - will set up stake somewhere along J Street near the MARRS complex depending on available space. Visitors to the booth will have the opportunity to take in an innocuous and positive observation about themselves, at no cost, from one of the booth’s volunteers.

“I like those glasses you are wearing,” said booth staff-member and local D.J., Eric Rivera, offering a sample compliment. “They say that you are a unique person with a lot of creativity.”

Co-creator and local stand-up comedian failure, Ali Tabatabai, says that in this tumultuous economic and political climate, everyone could use a bit of cheering up.

“It’s like Facebook, but in real life and with strangers,” said Tabatabai. “Stop by and we click ‘like.’”

Tabatabai added that unlike fortune tellers, the Compliment Booth is not a “scam.”

“No offense to psychics man, but we don’t portend the future, we just compliment what’s nice about you,” said Tabatabai. “Shoot, even if you’re a psychic, stop by and we’ll give you a compliment you wouldn’t predict.”

The Compliment Booth will begin serving up compliments at 5:30 P.M. and will be open to the public.
